5 Easy Steps for Administering ZIMECTERIN

These simple steps should help you successfully and properly dose your horse with ZIMECTERIN® (ivermectin).

1. Slide the ring on the plunger to the prescribed weight marking, locking it by turning 1/4 - turn to the right.

2. Make sure your horse’s mouth is clear of food. Some experts suggest rinsing out the mouth with clean water to remove all debris. Uncap the syringe immediately before inserting in the horse’s mouth.

3. Insert the ZIMECTERIN syringe tip as far back in the mouth as possible – at the space between the teeth.

4. Deposit the ZIMECTERIN paste, by depressing the plunger, as far back as you can on your horse’s tongue.

5. Immediately raise your horse’s head for a few seconds to a position where he cannot spit it out.

*NOTE Wait and watch your horse to be sure he doesn’t spit it out. Wait for at least 20 minutes before feeding. If your horse is holding ZIMECTERIN paste in his cheek pouches, it may mix with the feed – making it easier to spit out.

If you do have difficulties dosing your horse, talk to a fellow horseman for other ideas or proven strategies. Or consult your veterinarian.
